fpReview - Version 2.1.0
fpReview is a utility that allows you to easily review held mail on your Imail or SmarterMail system. With fpReview you can review messages and return them back to the queue for delivery or rescanning by Declude. Quickly edit messages, resolve ip addresses, lookup domain names and IP addresses against Senderbase. Plus many other features such as delete, move, copy, etc.
Another useful feature is the ability to report false positives or spam to 3rd parties by using the integrated email function. fpReview is an intelligent application that will adapt to your workflow. It will remember email addresses and subjects to streamline future reporting of messages.
In addition fpReview will import your configured Declude filters from your Declude global.cfg. This allows you to create custom Declude rules on the fly through our custom interface.
fpReview is one application that no email administrator should be without.

Configuration
To configure fpReview select the options menu under the Tools menu header. The configuration form
is where you select the type of mail server, file types, and spool locations.
Mail Server Types

Under mail server types you select the type of mail server that you are using. This is important because
if you use the "Auto-Configure" option under the File Types menu setting.
Enable SmarterMail 2.x Rename (Do Not Enable With SmarterMail 3.x) - If this option is selected a "X" will be
added as a prefix to the files being returned to the queue. ONLY ENABLE THIS IF YOU ARE RUNNING SMARTERMAIL VERSION 2.X.
Under SmarterMail 2.x messages prepended with an "X" prevents Declude from scanning the message again and potentially holding
the message. If you want Declude to rescan the message do not select this checkbox.
Number of messages to load at one time - This option limits the number of messages that will display in the
listbox. This number should be set to a reasonable level for your system. The more messages displayed in
the listbox affects performance of the application due to the load time of listing the files.
File Types

File types must be properly set in order for fpReview to work properly.
Auto Configure - This button will populate the header and body filenames and extensions based on the mail server
you selected under the mail server types.
Message Header Filename - The filename format for the header filename. * is a wildcard for any random sequence length.
Imail - All header files start with "q*". With Imail all header files start with a "q" and are followed by a random sequence "*".
SmarterMail - All header files start with "*". This is because they are random for SmarterMail.
Message Body Filename - The filename format for the Body filename. * is a wildcard for any random sequence length.
Imail - All body filenames start with "d*". With Imail all body filenames start with a "d" and are followed by a random sequence "*".
SmarterMail - All body files start with "*". This is because they are random under SmarterMail.
Message Header Filename Extension - The filename format for the Header filename extension.
Imail - The header filename extension is "smd".
SmarterMail - The header filename extension is "hdr".
Message Body Filename Extension - The filename format for the Body filename extension.
Imail - The body filename extension is "smd".
SmarterMail - The body filename extension is "eml".
Spool and Configuration Locations

Spool and configuration locations allow you to set the locations where your spool and declude global.cfg file
is located.
Return the header and body files to the same spool path - Normally the header and body files
are returned to the same location. However, there are times where you may not want to do this. For example: if
you are running older versions of Declude ( 1.x, 2.x) under Imail you may want to return the header file to the overflow
directory and the body to the spool directory so Declude can reprocess the held message.
Path To Spool (Header File) - Path to your spool directory where the header file will be returned to.
Path To Spool (Body File) - Path to your spool directory where the body file will be returned to.
Path To Declude global.cfg - Path to your Declude global.cfg. Your Declude global.cfg file will be imported
so that you are able to add entries to your various from filter files, ip files, and filter files.

FAQ
Q. If I want to try this tool what should I use as my license key?
A. You can register for a trial license key by clicking here. The trial version is time limited and
will expire in 30 days. When you receive your license key (fpReview.xml) copy it into the folder where you installed fpReview.
Q. How is fpReview licensed?
A. fpReview is licensed per machine. Each machine that you run fpReview requires a separate license. For multiple copy purchases
we offer substantial volume discounts.
Q. Can you explain the SmarterMail requeue process?
A. SmarterMail version 2.x and Declude - To deliver the message to the user without Declude scanning you need to enable the
"Enable SmarterMail 2.x Rename (Do Not Enable With SmarterMail 3.x)" checkbox and select your spool location. What fpReview
will do is prepend the filename with an "X". When Declude attempts to process the message it will see an "X" as the start of
the filename and not process the message. If you are running Smartermail version 2.x and you do not enable the
"Enable SmarterMail 2.x Rename (Do Not Enable With SmarterMail 3.x)" checkbox the message will be returned to your spool location
and processed by Declude.
SmarterMail version 3.x and Declude - For all SmarterMail 3.x installations do not enable the "Enable SmarterMail 2.x Rename (Do Not Enable With SmarterMail 3.x)"
checkbox. To deliver messages to the user without rescanning the message by Declude all you have to do is set the spool path
to the location of your SmartMail spool (typically c:\smartermail\spool). If you want messages to be rescanned by Declude you will
need to set your spool location path to your Declude proc directory.
Q. Can you explain how the retain deleted messages feature works?
A. fpReview can be configured to retain deleted messages. The idea behind this feature is to recover messages in the event that
you accidentally delete messages. If this feature is configured (value other than 0) when a message is deleted it will be moved
to the folder you define to retain the messages. When fpReview starts it will iterate through your hold folder deleting any messages
that are older than the retention period. Please keep in mind that the retention period is based on the created data and not the
messages last modified date. When a file is moved to the retention hold folder it's creation date is set to the current date.
Using the files created date ensures that we are truly keeping the file for the retention period.
Q. How can I get weights to display in the listview?
A. In the configuration menu under the general options tab you can configure what X-Header fpReview will look for to extract the
weight of the message. This X-Header must only contain a weight value. If it contains any other characters other than a numeric
value than the weight column in the listview will display nothing. By default the program is configured to look for this X-Header
X-fpReview-Weight.
Q. When fpReview loads is there a way to prevent it from automatically loading the last folder reviewed?
A. Yes. On the general options tab (Tools->Options) you can uncheck the checkbox "Auto Load Last Folder Reviewed When fpReview Starts".
Q. What is the quick review folder for?
A. The quick review folder is an extra folder for you to quickly move messages to for review later. Messages can be easily moved to this
folder by using the toolbar button or the hotkey of CTRL+R. To quickly review the messages in that folder you can hit the F2 key and fpReview
will load that folder automatically.
Q. What is the auto-timer feature?
A. With this feature enable fpReview will notify you via a systray notification that new messages have arrived for you to review. Along
with setting the auto-timer interval you can also opt to minimize fpReview to the systray when the program is minimized.
